Trust in community leaders, institutions, local government, media outlets, and police is a key component for building a food-forward community. High trust in local leadership often results in more positive attitudes towards food programs and higher-functioning and scalable food systems. Low trust in local leadership corresponds to greater feelings of stigma around assistance, overlapping and inefficient services, and underutilization of food assistance programs.
